The Wilderness Society brief on 'Resource Security' 1991

This is a copy of the original leaflet circulated to Federal Parliament in 1991, opposing industry resource security for loggers in public forests nationally. The legislation stalled and the issue featured in report by the Sydney Morning Herald's Alan Ramsey at the time.

As a result of the successful green campaign, industry pushed under new Prime Minister Keating for an industry report (Resource Assessment Commission, Forest & Timber Inquiry, 3 volumes), which then spawned a National Forest Policy Statement, and then by 1994 a "Regional Forest Agreements" agenda. But it was always about 'resource security' for private corporations in public forested lands.

And so it has turned out for the last 10 years and more 1995-2010 and counting.
